Do these 10 Bali spots really avoid the crowds?
Mostly, yes, but quiet usually means a long drive. We checked every place in a 2026 Bali guide: six of the ten hold up, two have a catch, and two can’t be checked.

6 of 10 hold up. Most are a long drive.
The score.Ten places, checked.
- Hold up
- 6 of 10
- Have a catch
- Jatiluwih and Diamond Beach
- Can’t be checked
- Bingin and the Batur jeep tour
- The real cost of quiet
- 7 of the 10 are at least 1 hr 20 min from the airport
- Longest drive
- West Bali National Park, up to 5 hr 20 min
Place by place. What it said, what we found.
1Sidemen Valley
From the airport: 1 hr 20 min to 2 hr 20 min
The video calls it the old Ubud, with no big crowds or traffic.
The rice field viewpoint we checked has just 85 Google reviews. That’s one spot, not the whole valley, but it fits.
Checks out2Savana Tianyar
From the airport: 2 hr 20 min to 3 hr 30 min
The video says it’s free to enter.
It’s quiet, but sources disagree on the price: some say free, and one lists IDR 10,000. Bring a little cash.
Mostly3Amed Coast
From the airport: 2 hr 20 min to 3 hr 50 min
The video says it’s calmer than the south, with shipwrecks to snorkel.
The Japanese wreck is on the map, and the beach has a fraction of the reviews of the big names.
Checks out4Munduk Waterfalls
From the airport: 2 hr to 3 hr 30 min
The video says you’ll often have the falls to yourself.
Much quieter than the big sights, but with over 1,100 reviews, having them to yourself is a stretch. Go early.
Mostly5Nyang Nyang Beach
From the airport: 45 min to 1 hr 25 min
The video says the steep walk down keeps crowds away.
The review count fits, and it’s one of only two spots here within 90 minutes of the airport.
Checks out6West Bali National Park
From the airport: 3 hr 20 min to 5 hr 20 min
The video calls it a hidden paradise of forest and reef.
Quiet for a reason: it’s the longest drive on the list by a distance. Plan to stay nearby.
Checks out7Jatiluwih Rice Terraces
From the airport: 1 hr 40 min to 2 hr 50 min
The video says it’s ten times bigger than Tegallalang, and peaceful.
It’s the busiest place on this list, at nearly 16,000 reviews. It’s commonly cited at about 600 hectares, but we found no reliable figure for Tegallalang to test that claim.
Has a catch8Diamond Beach
From the airport: Boat from Sanur, then 45 to 60 min by road
The video says to arrive before 8 AM.
It’s on Nusa Penida, a separate island. The first boat from Sanur is usually 6:30 AM, then 30 to 50 minutes at sea and 45 to 60 minutes by road, so 8 AM is only realistic if you sleep on the island.
Has a catch9Bingin Beach
From the airport: 45 min to 1 hr 30 min
The video says it has the island’s best seafood BBQ.
Best is an opinion. It’s also the lowest-rated place on the list, at 4.0.
Can’t check10Batur black lava jeep
From the airport: 2 hr to 3 hr 20 min
The video says the jeep reaches the best viewpoints faster.
This depends on the operator you pick, so there’s nothing to test.

Google review counts, used as a rough guide to how many people visit. They aren’t a live crowd count.

And the tourist trap?
The Lempuyang warning holds up
Recent guides report queues of 2 to 4 hours for the Gates of Heaven photo, and the lake in those photos really is a mirror held under your phone.
One of its alternatives doesn’t
The video suggests Besakih instead, but Besakih has more Google reviews than Lempuyang: 19,487 against 12,856. If you want quiet, the other temple it mentions, which sounds like Pura Kehen, has just 1,129.
Choose by where you’re staying.
From the south, Nyang Nyang and Bingin are the easy wins. Sidemen and Jatiluwih work as long day trips. For Amed, Munduk or West Bali, don’t drive there and back: stay a night.
A quiet Bali is real. It just isn’t close to the airport.

Only if you leave Ubud by 12:45 PM.
Is It Doable? · October 30, 2026
Can you do Ubud and Uluwatu in one day?
Yes, but only if you leave Ubud by 12:45 PM. The two are just 54 km apart, yet the day can put you in a car for 4 to 8 hours. If you can, do it one way and sleep in the south.

Land after 11 PM? Book your ride first.

What should you do when you land in Bali?
Sort three things before you fly: your visa, the free arrival card and the tourist levy. Then get cash, get online and find your ride. If you land after 11 PM, book that ride before you leave home.
